Led by Terry Wilson of Ohio State University, the Polar Earth Observing Network Antarctic Network (POLENET-ANET) is a GNSS and seismic array spanning West Antarctica and the Transantarctic Mountains. Like UKANET, the POLENET experiment seeks a more complete understanding of the interactions between ice sheets and the solid Earth to address critical questions about ice sheet behaviour in a warming world. The combined UKANET and POLENET-ANET networks represent unprecedented Antarctic seismic and GNSS arrays.

Project partners Terry Wilson (left, Ohio State University) and Matt King (right, University of Tasmania) bring international expertise and data sharing to the GNSS component of the project.

Project partners Michiel van den Broeke (left) and Bert Wouters (right, both Utrecht University) bring expertise on surface mass balance and satellite observations of ice sheet change.

And a massive thank you to all the supremely able field guides who work tirelessly to keep UKANET and POLENET scientists safe during fieldwork... and help us dig!!
